Ideally 1/8 to 1/4 inch (about 3–6 mm) so the sugar paste can grip hairs effectively. If hair is too short removal may be incomplete and if too long we may trim it during your appointment.
Many clients find sugaring less painful because the paste adheres to hair, not skin, and is removed in the direction of growth. Pain varies by sensitivity; we use calming techniques and aftercare to minimize discomfort.
Exfoliate gently two days before to remove dead skin, avoid heavy moisturizers on the day, arrive clean, and avoid sunburn or self-tanning. Please avoid retinoids and strong acids 5–7 days prior to reduce sensitivity.
Most clients enjoy smooth results for three to six weeks depending on individual hair cycles. With regular sugaring, regrowth often becomes sparser and finer, extending intervals between sessions.
Sugaring is generally safe during pregnancy, though increased sensitivity may raise discomfort; consult your provider if you have concerns. During menstruation some clients experience heightened tenderness; consider scheduling around your cycle for comfort.
Avoid hot baths, tight clothing, heavy exercise, and sun exposure for 24-48 hours. Use gentle, fragrance-free products, apply soothing aloe if needed, and exfoliate lightly after 3–5 days to prevent ingrown hairs.
